First Federal Bank of Kansas City is passionate about providing assistance to first-time homebuyers in the Kansas City metro area. Qualifying homebuyers purchasing a home to be their primary residence can access up to $15,000 in assistance that can be used to help cover down payment and closing costs for your first home. Funding for this program is provided through grant resources from the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB).
Am I eligible?
Helping first-time homebuyers in our community is what we do. We’d love to help you too! To be eligible for down payment assistance through First Federal Bank of Kansas City's partnership with the FHLB grant, you must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a first-time homebuyer
- Credit score of above 620
- At least 2 years of work history
- Must buy in our assessment area
- KS: Johnson or Wyandotte county
- MO: Cass, Clay, Jackson, or Platte county
- Must meet income limits up to 80% Area Median Income (AMI):
- 1 person in household: $62,400
- 2 people: $71,300
- 3 people: $80,200
- 4 people: $89,100
- 5 people: $96,250
- Homebuyer certificate is required. To obtain a homebuyer certificate, take a HUD certified class or the free online course by Fannie Mae.
- Homebuyer assistance is subject to loan approval
