Charitable Giving

First Federal Bank’s mission is to create a better financial future by investing in our customers, employees and communities—so we can all prosper together. This mission statement is the framework we use to achieve our philanthropic objectives. As a mutual bank, we share our success with our local communities by giving back to non-profit organizations and educational institutions that address vital needs, such as community & economic development, education & youth activities, arts and culture, and health & human services. The Bank directs giving to areas that positively impact the future success of communities, with preference given to projects that will impact a large number of individuals over an extended period of time. In certain situations, the Bank will support projects that have a national or international reach. The following are the four primary focus areas that will be considered:

Community & Economic Development:

  • Financial Literacy & Homeownership Education
  • Transitional Housing and Affordable Housing Development

Education & Youth Programs:

  • Programs supporting underserved populations in K-12 and post-secondary opportunities

Arts & Culture:

  • Programs that provide cultural opportunities to underserved populations through theatrical, musical, or visual arts organizations
  • Organizations that preserve and spread cultural legacies

Health & Human Services:

  • Programs addressing hunger, homelessness, and emergency services
  • Local healthcare organizations or local chapters of national organizations

Please submit a letter of inquiry to Stacy Purvis, Community Development Officer. This should include a brief history and mission statement of the organization, funding request, project description, and target audience. In addition, include the 501c3 designation letter and a list of potential volunteer opportunities (if applicable).

First Federal Bank will NOT provide funding for the following types of requests:

  • Organizations without a nonprofit status
  • Political organizations, candidates, or campaigns
  • Lobbying groups
  • Sponsorships/donations for the purpose of an individual
  • Solicitations received that discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin
